Sky Fall as Fever Surge Late

CHICAGO - In front of 6,488 fans at Allstate Arena, the Chicago Sky (6-6) could not hold off the Indiana Fever (6-5), falling 83-75 in the final minutes after a late 14-6 Indiana run pushed the game out of reach. Epiphanny Prince finished with 18 points to lead all scorers and Jessica Breland added 16 points against her former team. For the Fever, five different players scored 12 or more points to pull out the win.

The Sky jumped out to a quick start, but a 13-2 Fever run quickly turned a 6-0 Sky lead into a 13-8 Sky deficit. Chicago closed the gap to two points (17-19) after one quarter, thanks to Jamierra Faulkner's aggressive play, but Indiana's balanced scoring put them ahead.

In the second quarter the Fever stretched the lead to 10 points (31-21) with 5:53 to go on a pair of free throws by Natasha Howard, who scored 9 points in the period. The Sky responded, going on a 15-5 run to tie the game with 2.3 seconds left in the first half, 38-38. Unfortunately, Jessica Breland was called for a loose ball foul shortly thereafter, giving Indiana a pair of free throws and putting the Fever back on top at halftime, 40-38.

The Sky controlled much of the third quarter, opening on a 9-2 run to take a five-point lead. Chicago led by five late in the quarter but the Fever cut the Sky's lead to just one point going into the fourth, 59-58.

The fourth quarter saw Chicago and Indiana fighting to a standstill for much of the period before Indiana took a 75-69 lead with 2:18 remaining and the Sky couldn't recover.

The Sky return to action on June 22 when they host Skylar Diggins and the Tulsa Shock in what will be the first ever nationally televised "Pride" game. Tip off is set for 12 p.m. CT. The game will be broadcast on ESPN2.
