Florence Y'alls News Release

(Florence, KY) - The Florence Freedom (15-15) suffered an eleventh inning loss to the Frontier Greys (6-25) by a score of 7-5 Friday night at UC Health Stadium.

The Greys did not take their first lead until the 11th and they were able to hold onto it for the victory.

Meanwhile the Freedom had three different leads in the game but lost all of them to a scrappy Greys squad. Three of the runs surrendered by the Freedom were unearned.

Florence took the early lead as Miles singled to lead-off the first inning. He would steal second and score on a Sam Eberle RBI single. Joe Staley followed with a single of his own and Ben Kline walked to load the bases. The newest member of the Freedom, Orrin Sears, contributed a RBI grounder to drive in Eberle and Florence led 2-0.

But the Greys came back with two runs off Chuck Weaver in the third. Chase Tucker singled to start the frame and Cameron Monger reached on an error by Michael Wilson. One out later Joe Rapp drove in Tucker with a single. Chris Ellison followed with a double to tie the game at two.

Florence's second lead came in the fourth inning as Miles tripled in Bobby Joe Tannehill. But a Tannehill error in the fifth allowed Monger to reach and he scored on a double by Logan Pierce that Miles misjudged.

A Joe Staley two-run home run in the bottom of the fifth put Florence back on top by a score of 5-3. The Greys chipped away with a run in the sixth on a sacrifice fly from Chase Tucker.

The Freedom held the one-run lead until the eighth when a passed ball allowed the Greys to tie the game at five.

Neither team would score again until the eleventh when two walks issued by Edgar Valle eventually came around to score, one on a sacrifice fly by Tucker and another on a bunt single by Monger.
