Pittsburgh Riverhounds SC News Release
The Pittsburgh Riverhounds head to the eastern side of the state to meet the Harrisburg City Islanders at Skyline Sports Complex for the final leg of the Keystone Derby on Saturday, June 14 at 7:00 PM. The match will conclude the three match series against the Riverhounds and will mark Pittsburgh's only trip to Harrisburg this season.
The Riverhounds (1-7-4) head into the match desperate for three points to keep any hope alive for a return trip to the playoffs.
The two teams met this past Wednesday at Highmark Stadium. The Riverhounds jumped out to an early lead when Collins John scored his 4thgoal of the season on a penalty kick after Joseph Ngwenya was fouled in the box.
The City Islanders stormed back to find the back of the net three times in the second half, taking the second leg of the Keystone Derby on the visiting pitch 3-1 . Jimmy McLaughlin scored on a PK just one minute into the second half, and goals from Clesio Bauque and Yann Ekra proved to be the difference as the City Islanders notched their fourth win of the season.
Pittsburgh and Harrisburg played to a 1-1 draw on June 1st at Highmark Stadium. The Riverhounds led the majority of the match on Brian Fekete's first goal of the season, but the City Islanders pulled even to deny home squad their first USL PRO win of the 2014 campaign when Jimmy McLaughlin played the spoiler, dancing through the 'Hounds defenders to give the City Islanders the draw in the 85th minute.
After the Saturday match at Harrisburg, the Riverhounds return home before heading to the Windy City to take on the Chicago Fire of MLS Wednesday, June 18 at 7:30PM CT at Toyota Park for a fourth round matchup in the Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup Tournament.
The Riverhounds return home on Sunday, June 22nd for a 3:00PM match against the Richmond Kickers. It's a promotional giveaway night presented by Highmark with free t-shirts given out to all fans in attendance . Highmark Stadium will also remain open for a free viewing party of the USMNT World Cup match versus Portugal.
