Sacramento River Cats News Release

WEST SACRAMENTO, Calif. - The Omaha Storm Chasers, backed by 16 hits, trampled the Sacramento River Cats by a score of 10-4 on Wednesday night at Raley Field.

The River Cats (38-28) got things started in the bottom of the first when second baseman Tyler Ladendorf tripled to left-center field and then scored on an RBI-groundout by shortstop Andy Parrino, giving the Cats an early 1-0 lead.

The Cats lead didn't last for long as the Chasers stormed back in the top of the second inning with three runs on two RBI singles and a wild pitch to take the lead 3-1.

Sacramento added a run in the bottom of the third to cut Omaha's lead to one on an RBI-single by center fielder Shane Peterson.

Omaha (35-31) increased their lead to 7-2 behind a four-run fourth inning that included a three-run home run off the bat of second baseman Johnny Giavotella. The Storm Chasers then tacked on three more runs in the top of the eighth the push their lead to 10-2.

The Cats tacked on two late runs in the bottom of the eighth to make it a 10-4 game.

Giavotella finished the game 3-for-5 for the Chasers with two runs, a homer, and five RBI, and has racked up a total seven RBI in the series.

Parrino ended up 2-for-3 with a run, a stolen base, two walks, and two RBI while Ladendorf completed the game 2-for-4 with a run and a triple. Peterson went 2-for-5 on the night with a run, a double, and an RBI.

Right-handed starter Matt Buschmann (4-2, 5.36 ERA) took the loss for the River Cats after giving up seven runs on nine hits and three walks while striking out four in just 3.1 innings. Buschmann has now lost back-to-back games after starting the season 4-0.

Cats righty Jose Flores pitched 1.2 scoreless innings of relief and lefty reliever Eric O'Flaherty-on an MLB rehab assignment-worked a perfect sixth inning inducing three groundball outs in his first appearance of the season for Sacramento. Deryk Hooker gave up three runs in two innings and Justin Marks retired the only batter he faced.

Storm Chasers southpaw starter John Lamb (3-5, 3.80 ERA) earned his third victory of the season after allowing two runs on four hits and four walks to go along with six strikeouts in five innings of work.
