Alaska Aces News Release

ANCHORAGE, Alaska - The Alaska Aces are scheduled to host a Kelly Cup championship rally at Sullivan Arena on Wednesday, June 11 at 6:30 p.m., offering free admission to all fans in attendance.

The event, welcoming the Kelly Cup and league champion Aces back to Anchorage following their ECHL record-tying third Kelly Cup title, will offer fans to celebrate with the Aces and mingle one last time before the summer with autographs, available concessions (dry side of Sullivan Arena), a special entrance with the Kelly Cup and more.

Public address announcer Bob Lester will emcee the ceremony, where fans will be introduced to the Aces and also hear from Aces owners Terry Parks and Jerry Mackie, head coach Rob Murray and television/radio play-by-play voice Mike Benton.

Following the presentation, fans will be invited to collect autographs and photo opportunities with their favorite Aces along the floor of Sullivan Arena.

Sullivan Arena doors will open to the rally for fans beginning at 6:00 p.m.

The Aces tied the ECHL record with their third Kelly Cup championship (shared with South Carolina) in a 4-2 Finals victory over Cincinnati. The Kelly Cup Finals marked an ECHL record setting fourth appearance for the Aces.

Goaltender Gerald Coleman, who had two shutouts in the Finals, moved into second place, all-time for Kelly Cup Playoff shutouts (2) while becoming the first goaltender in ECHL history to win two Kelly Cup titles as a player. Assistant coach Louis Mass became the fourth individual in the league's 26-year history to win the Kelly Cup three times as a player or coach, joining Scott Burt, Jared Bednar, and Patrick Wellar.

The championship marked the first for Aces head coach Rob Murray (joining Davis Payne and Brent Thompson as Aces coaches to win the Kelly Cup) and captain and Anchorage native Nick Mazzolini, who led the league in playoff scoring with 31 points in 21 games.

Live postseason game coverage was made available on statewide television through GCI Channel 1 and the championship-clinching Game 6 of the Finals was available on replay, Tuesday night through KTVA (CBS) Channel 11. A sellout crowd of 6,438 packed Sullivan Arena for Game 2 of the Kelly Cup Finals, the league's largest postseason crowd.
