Blowfish Bring "Hidden Cash" Promotion to the MIdlandsJune 9, 2014 - Coastal Plain League (Coastal Plain) - Lexington County Blowfish
The Hidden Cash social media trend appeared last month in San Francisco. Created by an anonymous millionaire, the movement consisted of hiding envelopes of cash all over the Bay area, and tweeting clues to the location of the money. Those who located the envelopes were instructed to tweet a picture of themselves and their findings. Winning contestants could either keep the money or pay it forward.
The scavenger hunt was so popular that it caught the attention of other cities such as Los Angeles, New Orleans and even London!
Promoting Fun, Food, and Baseball in the Midlands, the Blowfish are putting their own twist on this viral social media campaign.
"We're always looking for ways to increase our interaction with the community," Blowfish Owner, Bill Shanahan said. "I love this idea, and I think it' s fun and a tremendous opportunity to give back to the Midlands."
The hidden cash scavenger hunt will begin at 12 Noon with envelopes hidden in two specific locations around the Midlands including downtown Columbia, Cayce, West Columbia, Lexington and Irmo each day this week. Clues will be tweeted out via @ColaBlowfish. Winners are asked to tweet a picture of themselves and their findings using the hashtag #FISH4PRIZES.
T he scavenger hunt will move to Capital City Stadium on June 15, for the Blowfish Father's Day double-header against the Florence RedWolves. Before the game there will be hidden envelopes containing assorted prizes including Atlanta Braves game tickets and a $100 cash prize.
