Sharks Score Ten in WinJune 7, 2014 - Coastal Plain League (Coastal Plain) Wilmington Sharks
Linkous stole second and later advanced to third on a backside groundout by Kevin Husum. Linkous scored a few pitches later on a wild pitch. Scratching a run in the third inning set the offensive tone for the rest of the game.
The fifth inning was also fruitful for Wilmington. Nate Moorhouse scored from second on Nate Becker's single. Becker was replaced on first by Colin Steagall, after Steagall poked a single into the outfield, scoring Becker for the third run of the game.
However, Wilmington's coup de grâce was delivered to Martinsville in the eighth inning. In the inning, Wilmington scored five runs on three hits, one stolen base, and three errors.
Nathan Becker, Colin Steagall, and Andre Siegel shined Saturday evening, each having multiple hits in the contest. Although Steven Linkous had a single hit in five attempts, his three stolen bases were quite useful.
After a weekend on the road, the Sharks are able to escape with one win and one loss. The Sharks will be back in Wilmington Monday for the third consecutive home game against the Fayetteville SwampDogs. Monday's game will be the first of an arduous stretch - thirteen games in thirteen days.
