Former Watertown Pitcher Makes Major League Debut

Former Watertown Wizard and right-handed pitcher Shae Simmons made his major league debut for the Atlanta Braves on Saturday, registering a hold and a strikeout in the Braves 9-5 win over the Marlins.
Simmons entered the game in the eighth inning with two men on and two out and struck out Jarrod Saltalamacchia on three pitches to end the threat and earn a hold.
On Sunday, Simmons entered the game in the ninth inning with the Braves leading 4-2 and earned his first major league save.
A product of Southeastern Missouri State, Simmons played with the Wizards in 2010 and was drafted by the Braves in the 22nd round of the 2012 Major League Baseball Draft.
Simmons made six appearances with the Braves during spring training this March and was assigned to the Double-A Mississippi Braves of the Southern League before he was called up on Friday night.
