Sioux City Musketeers News Release

The Ottawa Senators signed forward Max McCormick, a 2011 NHL Draft pick of the club, to a two-year NHL entry-level contract.

McCormick spent the 2010-11 season in the USHL with the Musketeers and was fourth on the team in scoring with 42 points (21g, 21a) over 55 regular season games. He was second on the team with 21 goals, five of which were game-winners to tie for sixth in the League. The De Pere, Wisconsin native also posted a plus-six rating and led the Musketeers with 102 penalty minutes. McCormick scored five goals over the last six regular season games for Sioux City, leading them to a 5-1-0 record in those contests and helping them earn a playoff berth. He went on to add three points (1g, 2a) in three postseason games.

Shortly after his time in the USHL, the Ottawa Senators selected him in the sixth round (171st overall) of the 2011 NHL Draft. He then began his collegiate career at Ohio State University where he put up 88 points (36g, 52a) in 104 games over three seasons at the school. McCormick was among the team's scoring leaders in each season, including putting up a career high 35 points (11g, 24a) while appearing in all 37 games for the Buckeyes as a junior.

During his collegiate career, he was a three-time Ohio State scholar-athlete honoree and a two-time academic all-conference selection.
