Marlies Down Stars 5-1 in Game One

The Toronto Marlies defeated the Texas Stars, AHL affiliate of the Dallas Stars, by a score of 5-1 tonight in game one of the Western Conference Final.

Toronto would take the lead early in the first period when Brandon Kozun notched his fourth goal of the postseason. The Marlies would add two more tallies in the middle frame with T.J. Brennan scoring on a power play and Peter Holland notching an even strength marker. Chris Mueller would cut Toronto's lead to 3-1 at 15:33 of the third period, but that was as close as the Stars would get. Sam Carrick and Jerred Smithson added empty net tallies to secure a 5-1 victory.

Game two of the best-of-seven series will be played at Cedar Park Center on Monday night. The game can be seen live on Leafs TV at 8:30 p.m. ET. The series shifts back to Ricoh Coliseum for game three on Wednesday night at 7 p.m. ET.
