Three Machine Players Named All-Americans

COLUMBUS, OHIO (May 22, 2014) - Three members of the Ohio Machine were named 2014 All-Americans by the United States Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association, it was announced today. Machine midfielder Tom Schreiber and defensive draftee Stephen O'Hara were named first team All-Americans, while defensive draftee Jackson Place earned Honorable Mention honors.

Schreiber finished his college career at Princeton with the school's career records in goals, assists and points by a midfielder. Schreiber led the Tigers in goals and points during the 2014 campaign and was a finalist for the Tewaaraton Trophy in 2013 and 2014. Schreiber is the only midfielder in Ivy League history to finish his career with at least 100 goals and 90 assists. Schreiber was a first team All-American in 2012 and 2013, and a team captain for the Tigers in 2013 and 2014. He was named to the All-Ivy League First Team all four years at Princeton. In two games with the Machine this season, Schreiber is tied for fourth on the team in goals (4) and fifth on the team in points (5). The Machine selected Schreiber with the first overall pick in the 2014 MLL Collegiate Draft.

O'Hara has anchored a Notre Dame defense to an ACC title and an appearance in the NCAA Final Four. Over the past three seasons, O'Hara has started all 48 games for the Fighting Irish and has collected 102 groundballs over those three seasons. Notre Dame is set to face the University of Maryland in the Final Four this weekend. The Machine selected O'Hara with the 41st overall pick in the 2014 MLL Collegiate Draft.

Place, a two-time All-Patriot League selection, helped anchor the Bison defense. Over the past three seasons, Place ranked in the top-25 nationally in caused turnovers. This year, his 2.71 caused turnovers per game ranks second in the country. Place finished his collegiate career with 101 caused turnover and 127 groundballs. The Machine selected Place with the 25th overall pick in the 2014 MLL Collegiate Draft.

The Machine returns to action on Saturday, May 31 when the team travels to Annapolis to take on the Chesapeake Bayhawks. The game can be seen live on CBS Sports Network at 7 p.m. The Machine returns to Selby Stadium for on June 6 at 8 p.m. when the team takes on the Boston Cannons.
