Wolves to Face Toronto in Western Conference Semifinals

May 4, 2014 - American Hockey League (AHL)
Chicago Wolves News Release

The Chicago Wolves advanced to the Western Conference Semifinals with a 4-2 defeat of Rochester in the decisive Game 5 of the Western Conference Quarterfinals on Sunday afternoon at Allstate Arena. The second-seeded Wolves face the third-seeded Toronto Marlies in a best-of-seven series that begins at 7:30 p.m. on Friday, May 9, at Allstate Arena.

The Wolves, who are making their 16th postseason run in their 20-year history, captured the Midwest Division title with 100 points during the regular season. That earned Chicago the home-ice advantage over Toronto, which won the North Division title with 96 points.

American Hockey League rules call for seven-game series to be contested in a 2-3-2 format when the teams are separated by more than 300 highway miles, which means the Wolves will host Games 1 and 2 as well as Games 6 and 7 if necessary. All home and away games will be telecast on The U-Too 26.2, XFinity 248, RCN 35 and WOW 170.

The Wolves and Marlies split their pair of regular-season games as Toronto earned a 3-2 overtime win on Jan. 17 at Allstate Arena and Chicago responded with a 2-1 win on Jan. 25 at Ricoh Coliseum. This marks the second time Chicago and Toronto have met in the postseason. The Wolves needed five games to win the 2008 Western Conference Finals on their way to the Calder Cup championship.
