Norfolk, Va. - After allowing 24 runs to cross the plate the on Friday and Saturday, the Scranton/Wilkes-Barre RailRiders flipped the switch in a 16-2 drilling of the Norfolk Tides (Baltimore Orioles) Sunday afternoon at Harbor Park. The win by the RailRiders salvaged a series split with the Tides, as SWB finished the eight-game run through the International League South at 3-6

The RailRiders offense combined for 10 extra-base hits, as every RailRider in the SWB lineup added a base hit and scored on run in the 3:06 affair. Dean Anna and Zoilo Almonte each added three hits apiece and Antoan Richardson and Ramon Flores added a home run apiece in the win.

SWB jumped on Norfolk's starter Suk-min Yoon (0-4) early, scoring runs in each of the four frames the right-hander appeared, before chasing the Korean righty after Almonte doubled to right field for the fourth extra-base hit of the frame. In total, SWB tagged Yoon for eight runs and 11 hits, eight going for extra bags in the losing effort. Left-hander Chris Jones relieved Yoon in the fourth, issuing a walk before allowing the next four batters to reach base, allowing one inherited runner to cross. The RailRiders added seven-runs in the six hit frame to push the lead to 12-0.

Joel De La Cruz made his Triple-A debut, needing just 84 pitches to carve his way through 22 Tides hitters in six complete innings. The lone blemish by De La Cruz occurred in the sixth inning on a solo home run by Cord Phelps.

Four more RailRider runs would cross in the sixth frame, highlighted by doubles courtesy of Jose Pirela and Anna to tilt the RailRiders lead to 16-1. The run support proved to be more than enough as De La Cruz (1-0) earned his first win at the Triple-A level in his SWB debut.

The RailRiders will begin an eight-game homestand beginning Monday, May 5 at 6:35 p.m. as the club welcomes in the Indianapolis Indians for the first of a four-game tilt. SWB will toss right-hander Shane Greene (0-0, 7.50) righty Adam Wilk (3-1, 4.03) twirls for the Indians. OFF THE RAILS:

The 16 runs scored by the RailRiders offense marked a season high.

Seven different RailRiders collected multiple hits in the ballgame.

The seven run scored in the fourth inning is the most by the RailRiders in a single frame this season.

Robert Coello, in six outings this year, has not allowed a run in 9.1 innings, striking out eight batters.
