RHP Frias Joins Isotopes, C Olivo Called up to Los Angeles

Right-handed pitcher Carlos Frias was promoted from Double-A Chattanooga to the Albuquerque Isotopes this afternoon, April 30, after catcher Miguel Olivo was called up to the Los Angeles Dodgers. Frias is expected to start tonight's game against the Salt Lake Bees.
Frias originally signed with the Dodgers as an undrafted free agent in 2007 and began his career with the Rookie-level Dominican Summer League Dodgers. He is 2-1with a 3.38 ERA in five starts with Double-A Chattanooga this season and owns a career 32-30 ledger with a 4.08 ERA in eight Minor League seasons. This will be his first trip to Triple-A.
Olivo played in 15 games for the Isotopes this season, batting .390 with four doubles and four home runs. He also drove in 18 runs and scored 10. Behind the plate, the 35-year-old backstop threw out four of twelve would-be base stealers.
Albuquerque plays game three of its four-game series against the Sale Lake Bees tonight at 6:35 p.m. after back-to-back extra-inning games.
