York Revolution News Release

The York Revolution opened the 2014 season with a 6-1 win over the Camden Riversharks on Thursday night in front of 5,523 fans at Santander Stadium. York scored six unanswered runs, pounding out 12 hits and taking advantage of five Camden errors in the season-opening victory.

The Revs fell behind in the third inning when Kalian Sams lined a two-out RBI single into left field for the season's first run, but York starter Chris Cody came back to strike out Joe Dunigan on a check swing, leaving the bases loaded and minimizing the damage.

York drew even on an RBI single to left by Wilson Valdez in the bottom of the fifth, tying things at 1-1. The Revs saved the rest of their offensive production for late in the game, scoring twice in the seventh and three more times in the eighth.

Eric Patterson drove a go-ahead RBI double to left field with two outs in the seventh to break the tie, took third on the throw, and scored on an error by shortstop Bobby Stevens to provide the Revs with a 3-1 lead.

York applied the finishing touches in the eighth as Salvador Paniagua crushed a two-run homer to left field and Tim Torres later scored on a wild pitch.

The Revs used five pitchers in relief to hold Camden scoreless over the final six innings. Beau Vaughan (1-0) earned the win, retiring the side in order in the seventh.
