Laishram Named to OHL Scholastic Team

TORONTO, ON -The Ontario Hockey League announced Wednesday that Bulls forwardAdam Laishram is on the OHL Scholastic Team for the 2013-14 season, representing the Bulls as their top academic player.

Laishram wrapped up his rookie season in the OHL this year, finishing with 2 goals and 5 assists in 49 games. The Ashburn native completed his studies at Quinte Secondary School as a grade eleven student.

The OHL also announced their scholastic trophy winners on Wednesday. Seventeen year-oldConnor McDavid of the Erie Otters received the Bobby Smith Trophy for Scholastic Player of the Year. He earned an 87% average in his grade eleven studies while finishing fourth in OHL scoring with 99 points. He also earned the William Hanley Award as the league's Most Sportsmanlike Player.

The Ivan Tennant Award for top Scholastic High School Student went to Guelph Storm 16 year-old forwardAdam Craievich. The eleventh grade student held a 96% average this year.

Sault Ste. Marie Greyhounds forwardPatrick Watling received the Roger Neilson Award given to the OHL's Top Academic Post-Secondary Student. Watling excelled in engineering courses through the University of Guelph while also posting 18 goals and 36 assists in 65 games.
