Lewis Nominated Week 6 Most Valuable Player

DES MOINES - The Iowa Barnstormers defensive lineman Mike Lewis has been nominated as the AFL Most Valuable Player for Week 6, the League announced today.

2014 is Lewis' fifth in the Arena Football League. So far this season, he has tallied 5.5 sacks for a loss of 27 yards. In addition, Lewis has accounted for 10.5 total tackles and has served as one of the leaders of the Barnstormers defensive line. Recently, Lewis has moved into seventh place all-time in AFL history with 43.5 career quarterback takedowns.

In 2013, Lewis became the only player in League history to record three consecutive seasons with double-digit sacks. He has also played for the now defunct Utah Blaze and in the AF2 with the Peoria Pirates and the Albany Conquest. Lewis played college football at Adrian College where he broke records in sacks, tackles for loss, and fumble recoveries.
