Jackals Name New Play-By-Play Broadcaster

ELMIRA, N.Y. - April 22, 2014 - The Elmira Jackals and First Arena announced today that they have named Jared Abbott their new Director of Broadcasting and Media Relations. Additionally, the club announced today that it has named Jordan Myers the Director of Creative Marketing and Graphics.

As Director of Broadcasting and Media Relations, Abbott will be instrumental with public and community relations, daily hockey operations and will bring an energetic personality to the broadcasting booth.

Abbott spent this past year as a post-graduate communications intern with the Jackals and First Arena. He assisted former broadcaster Ray Schmitt with daily duties and helped shoulder the load of responsibilities. Prior to joining the Jackals and First Arena, Abbott was the play-by-play broadcaster for Penn State University's NCAA Division I men's ice hockey team. In his years at Penn State, Abbott broadcasted many levels of men's and women's ice hockey. The Flemington, New Jersey native played two season of club ice hockey at Penn State before he joined the broadcasting department. Prior to attending Penn State, Abbott played junior hockey for the New Jersey Renegades of the Metropolitan Junior Hockey League.

The Elmira Jackals have named Jordan Myers their new Director of Creative Marketing and Graphics.

As Director of Creative Marketing and Graphics, Myers will execute all marketing including printed and web graphics, maintain the website, and bring a creative eye to the marketing department.

Myers spent this past year as a communications intern with the Jackals and First Arena. She produced graphics and artwork for the game day programs, website, trading cards, and other marketing material used by First Arena. Prior to joining the Jackals and First Arena, Myers was a Journalism and Public Communications student at the University of Alaska Anchorage. While at UAA, Myers was a camera operator for Seawolves Hockey and Cook'n AK. The Anchorage, Alaska native also hosted and co-hosted The Coach Shyiak Show, a 30-minute TV broadcast with the Seawolves Head Coach, along with Around UAA and Around the WCHA for two seasons.
