TONIGHT:
The Ontario Reign (44-20-3-4), down two games to none, will host the Stockton Thunder (33-31-2-6) for the first time in the series. The Thunder has outscored the Reign eight goals to four in just two games with Brian Foster getting the start for both matches. This is the first time in Reign playoff history (playing in the postseason in 2009, 2012, 2013, and 2014) that they have lost two consecutive games in regulation.
BRINGING IT HOME:
Tonight the series shifts to Ontario where the Reign will get their first taste of playoff hockey at home. Due to a scheduling conflict the Reign didn't get the first two games at home, but will continue to have the home-ice advantage of four games played at Citizens Business Bank Arena compared to the three played at Stockton Arena. Ontario finished the regular season with the highest average attendance of 8,158 fans piling into Citizens Business Bank Arena per game - a new team record and a number that hasn't been seen since the 1998-99 season.
ACROSS THE BOARD:
Although Stockton players have more points earned, the Reign have more players with points. Ten Reign skaters have at least one point in the series compared to eight Thunder skaters. Jeremy Langlois leads with seven, followed by Joey Martin who has five.
STOPPING LANGLOIS:
Jeremy Langlois of the Stockton Thunder has been a huge threat for the Reign in the postseason. Langlois already has racked up seven points (4g, 3a) in two games against the Reign including a Hat Trick in the Saturday, Apr. 19 game. During the regular season, the rookie ranked second among Stockton skaters with 60 points (19g, 41a) between the Thunder and the Evansville IceMen; three of those points were earned against Ontario in just three games.
