Parkview Sports Medicine High School Baseball Series Unveiled
April 22, 2014 - Midwest League (MWL1)
Fort Wayne TinCaps News Release
Fort Wayne, Ind. - Parkview Field, in partnership with Parkview Sports Medicine, is set to welcome 28 area high school baseball teams this spring. The Parkview Sports Medicine High School Baseball Series begins this evening, Tuesday, April 22, with the first two of 14 games to be played between tonight and May 16.
Kids playing in the Parkview Sports Medicine High School Baseball Series will receive "big league" treatment at Parkview Field. Just like during a TinCaps game, players will have their headshots displayed on the video board in right field. Additionally, all 14 games will be broadcast on TV (XFINITY Channel 81) and radio (106.7 The Fan).
"Many people don't realize how tremendous high school baseball is in Northeast Indiana and Northwest Ohio," TinCaps President Mike Nutter said. "There are guys from our area now playing in college, the minors, and even the majors.
"The TinCaps are truly excited to welcome high school baseball back Downtown. Parkview Field was built with this intention in mind - to give back to our great community. We're grateful to our friends at Parkview Sports Medicine for allowing us to host these games at no cost to the schools."
Thanks to underwriting from Parkview Sports Medicine, the games are fundraisers for the schools. For each $5.00 ticket sold, $4.00 goes to the participating schools.
"This area is filled with talented high school baseball players and teams who deserve a shot to showcase their skills in a big league environment," said Julie Fleck, COO, Parkview Ortho Hospital. "Parkview Sports Medicine works with these and other area athletes daily, whether it's training, rehabilitation and therapy, or education, so it made sense to partner with the Fort Wayne TinCaps and organize an event that would highlight the area's best all-in-one area. We look forward to the exciting activity to take place over the next few weeks."
