Schrader Leads Braves in Slugfest, Sets Record

Rome, GA - The Rome Braves returned home and opened a three game series against the Greensboro Grasshoppers with a 14-9 win.

Greensboro put four runs on the board in the second inning on back to back two run doubles by Yefri Perez and Justin Bohn. Rome answered in the bottom of the second with three runs thanks to a three run homer by Jake Schrader (2). Rome would tie the game 4-4 in the third on an RBI single by Victor Caratini. Greensboro would again take the lead in the fourth on a run scored by a wild pitch by Rome starter Chuck Buchanan. The Rome offense would chalk up nine runs over the next two innings highlighted by a three RBI double by Blake Brown in the fifth and another three run shot by Schrader (3) in the sixth en route to the 14-9 win. Schrader led the way for the Braves with seven RBI which sets a new Rome Braves record for RBI in a game. The previous record was six held by four players (Diory Hernandez 2004, Jamie Romak 2006, Cody Johnson 2008, and Robert Hefflinger 2012).
