Jonatan Hinojosa joins Kernels from Extended

Cedar Rapids, IA - The Cedar Rapids Kernels and Minnesota Twins announce that OF Jeremias Pineda has been placed on the 7-day DL and that INF Jonatan Hinojosa joins the Kernels from Extended Spring Training. Brad Steil, Director of Minor League Operations for the Twins, announced the move.
The Twins signed Hinojosa as a non-drafted free agent in 2009. He played 48 games with the GCL Twins, batting .236 with 15 RBI and 10 stolen bases in 12 attempts.
Pineda goes on the DL with a fracture of the left wrist/hamate. In 15 games for the Kernels, he is batting .163 (8-49) with a HR and 6 RBI.
Hinojosa is available for tonight's 6:30 pm game in Peoria. With today's transaction, the Kernels roster is at the MWL maximum of 25 active players with three players currently on the DL.
The Kernels begin a seven game road trip tonight at 6:30 pm at Peoria. The road trip continues through Sunday, April 27th with games at Peoria and Clinton. The Kernels return to Perfect Game Field at Veterans Memorial Stadium on Monday, April 28th and open a seve game home stand with games against Kane County and Peoria.
