Stingrays Playoff Weekly: Stingrays Take the #RaysfortheCup to Wheeling this Week

The Week That Was...
The South Carolina Stingrays kicked off the 2014 Kelly Cup Playoffs and the #RaysfortheCup last week with Game 1 and 2 of the Eastern Conference Quarterfinals against the Wheeling Nailers at the North Charleston Coliseum Friday and Saturday evening.
In Game 1, goaltender Mike Condon made 23 saves for his first professional postseason shutout to propel the Nailers to a 3-0 victory. The Stingrays fought back in Game 2, netting the game's opening goal thanks to defenseman Luka Vidmar late in the first period. The Nailers grabbed an early power-play tally in the middle stanza, but forward Jack Downing reclaimed the Stingrays lead 13 seconds later. Nailers forward Chaz Johnson evened the contest on the man advantage in the third period and forward Tom Kuhnhackl netted the game-winning tally 9:53 into overtime to give the Nailers a 2-0 series lead.

Goaltenders Pheonix Copley and Allen York rank 15 and 16 respectively among ECHL postseason netminders with 2.58 and 3.00 goals-against averages.
Defenseman Steve Spinell is tied for first in the ECHL and leads all league rookies and league defensemen with 14 penalty minutes. Spinell is also tied for first with two major penalties.
Defenseman Luka Vidmar is tied for fourth among ECHL blueliners with a postseason goal.
