Rapids without Marc Burch and José Mari against Earthquakes
April 19, 2014 - Major League Soccer (MLS)
Colorado Rapids News Release
A pair of Rapids that started in last week's 1-0 win at Toronto FC will be unavailable for today's home match against the San Jose Earthquakes at Dick's Sporting Goods Park. Left-sided defender Marc Burch and defensive midfielder José Mari both picked up small injuries during the week, and are being held out of Saturday's match.
"Both Marc and José Mari felt some soreness during the week, so we're keeping them out of today's match as a precaution," said Rapids Head Coach Pablo Mastroeni. "It's a long season and we don't want to risk further injury with these guys. We've got a deep team and there are players ready to step up in their place."
Burch felt some soreness in his right hamstring during the week, while José Mari's injury was also soreness, but in his right quad. Both players are expected to be healthy for next weekend's match at Seattle Sounders FC, though they will be evaluated during the week to determine their availability.
