Isotopes Fall 12-2 to Bees in Opening Game of Road Trip

SALT LAKE CITY - Luis Jimenez hit two home runs, including the third in a back-to-back-to-back third inning, and the Salt Lake Bees launched five home runs total in a 12-2 win against the Albuquerque Isotopes Saturday night at Smith's Ballpark.

Jimenez hit a solo shot off 'Topes spot starter Steve Smith (0-1) in the first inning. Taylor Lindsay launched a two-run homer in the third, followed immediately by long balls from Grant Green and Jimenez. In the sixth, C.J. Cron capped the home run fest with a two-run blast off Sam Demel.

The Isotopes (9-7) saw their four-game winning streak end, and all four of Albuquerque hits were for extra bases. Joc Pederson went 2-for-4 with two doubles, while Trayvon Robinson and Jamie Romak each hit home runs. It was Robinson's first of the season and Romak's third.

At one point, Salt Lake led 7-2 and all nine combined runs had scored on home runs. The Bees (6-11) tacked on five more runs in the eighthinning off Steve Edlefsen to put the game away.
