Francis Helps Lead Louisville over Tribe 4-2

INDIANAPOLIS -- Major League veteran Jeff Francis, struck out an Tribe opponent season high 10 batters over 6.2 innings as the Louisville Bats held the powerful Indianapolis Indians lineup to just two runs in a 4-2 series opening win on Saturday night at Victory Field.

After plating 18 runs on 32 hits during the three-game series in Louisville, the Indians were held to just two scores on seven hits (six singles) on Saturday night. Francis was dominant throughout the night with pinpoint control and devastating speed changes fooling Tribe hitters over his 6.2 innings of work.

Louisville was also able to get out a quick lead thanks to a two-out double by Mike Wilson in the first. However, the Tribe was able to quickly answer as 1B Andrew Lambo lined a double with one-out in the bottom of the second and was quickly brought plateward on a base knock by 3B Matt Hague to even the score at 1-1.

The Bats took the lead for good with two scores in the sixth on a groundout and wild pitch, while the Indians only other run of the contest came on a two-out RBI single by CF Chris Dickerson in the seventh.

Former Tribe reliever Jumbo Diaz finished out the contest with 1.2 perfect innings to notch his fourth save.
