Syracuse Crunch News Release

Syracuse, NY - The Syracuse Crunch concluded their 20th AHL campaign with a 3-1 win over the Hamilton Bulldogs at the FirstOntario Centre tonight.

The win brings the Crunch's 2013-14 record to 31-32-4-9 and gives the team their first win of the season against the Bulldogs, to end the best-of-four season series 1-2-0-1.

Cedrick Desjardins turned aside 22 of 23 shots faced for the win while former Crunch netminder Dustin Tokarski allowed three goals on 24 shots. The Crunch allowed one Bulldogs power-play goal on four attempts and were unable to convert on their three man-advantage opportunities.

The Bulldogs opened the scoring with a power-play goal from Nathan Beaulieu 8:14 into the first frame. Beaulieu tapped in a feed from Mike Blunden to give Hamilton an early 1-0 lead.

The Crunch responded with two second period tallies to go into the final frame with a 2-1 lead. Evan Rankin tied the game when his shot deflected off the skate of a Bulldog past Tokarski 15:07 into the second stanza. Another Bulldogs redirection sent a Luke Witkowski point shot into the back of the net 1:17 later.

The Crunch extended their lead with the only goal of the third period, 14:27 into the final frame. Jonathan Marchessault beat Tokarski from the left wing side during a three-on-one odd man rush.
