NBL Canada Announces 2013-14 Award Winners

(CHARLOTTETOWN, PE): The National Basketball League of Canada announced the season award winners for the 2013-14 season today at a banquet at All Star Weekend in Charlottetown.
"There is no doubt that we have some of the best basketball players in the world playing in the National Basketball League of Canada, and we are thrilled to be able to recognize their talents along with our coaches and those that are working hard for the success of the League," said NBL Canada Commissioner Paul Riley. "This weekend is another showcase event where some of those players will be seen, but we also must recognize the body of work of many other players throughout the year."
The following player awards were nominated by a vote of the coaches:
LEAGUE MOST VALUABLE PLAYER (MVP): Anthony Anderson, Saint John Mill Rats
CANADIAN PLAYER OF THE YEAR: Garrett Williamson, London Lightning
NEWCOMER OF THE YEAR: Justin Tubbs, Ottawa SkyHawks
