Bees Pitching Stymies Captains

(Eastlake, OH)- The Bees bounced back in a big way Friday night, defeating the Lake County Captains 5-2 in game two of the series, behind strong pitching from starter Michael Clevinger.

Mark Shannon continued his key offensive contribution with an RBI groundout in the first inning, scoring Eaves from third. Later in the inning, the Bees extended their lead to 2-0 when Chad Hinshaw came home to score on a steal attempt.

The Bees added to their lead scoring a run in the second on a fielders choice grounded into by Erick Salcedo, scoring Anthony Bemboom making the score 3-0.

A pair of runs padded the Bees lead at 5-0 in the fifth thanks to a pair of wild pitches by Captains starting pitcher Mitch Brown.

Michael Clevinger (1-0) made his third start of the season for the Bees working a season high five scoreless innings, allowing just four hits, striking out four and didn't issue a walk. Captains starter Mitch Brown (0-2 was charged with the loss. Bees' reliever Alan Busenitz (3) earned the save.

The Bees and the Captains wrap up their three game series tomorrow afternoon at 12:05 PM central time. Garrett Nuss makes the start for the Bees while Luis Lugo goes for the Captains.
