MLB Vet Omogrosso Joins Bluefish

(Bridgeport, Conn. - April 18, 2014) - The Bridgeport Bluefish today announced the signing of pitcher Brian Omogrosso. Omogrosso comes to Bridgeport for his first season in the Atlantic League and ninth of professional baseball.
"Brian is a veteran arm that gives us depth in our bullpen," says Bluefish manager Willie Upshaw. "His experience in the big leagues the last two seasons will be an asset to this club."
Omogrosso was with the Chicago White Sox for spring training this year in Arizona going 1-0 in one appearance with one strikeout in one inning. He started last season with the Triple-A Charlotte Knights before quickly being promoted for his second stint with the White Sox. He appeared in 12 games for Chicago, finishing six games with 16 strikeouts in 16.1 innings.
In 2012 he began the campaign with Triple-A Charlotte before being called up for his Major League debut. Brian had a solid stint with the White Sox, appearing in 17 games with a 2.57 ERA and 18 strikeouts in 21 innings. In 29 career big league games, the Pennsylvania native has a 5.54 ERA finishing seven games and recording 34 strikeouts in 37.1 innings.
The right-hander has spent his entire professional with the Chicago White Sox organization after they drafted him in the sixth round of the 2006 amateur draft out of Indiana State University. In 186 minor league games (33 starts), he has a 19-22 record with a 3.94 ERA, finishing 65 games with one complete game shutout, 21 saves and 377 strikeouts in 407 innings.
