Walleye Attendance Tops 200,000 For Fifth Consecutive Year

Toledo, OH - Thank you Toledo Walleye fans for topping the 200,000 mark for a fifth consecutive season!
The Walleye welcomed 216,797 people to the Huntington Center during the 2013-14 season, ranking fourth in the ECHL for attendance. On January 12, the Walleye celebrated a major milestone when its one-millionth fan came through the gate. Since opening in 2009, a total of 1,129,697 have attended a Walleye regular season or play-off game.
The Toledo Walleye set several franchise records this season:
- Fans rented a total of 117 party suites. This is a 16 percent increase over the previous peak year in 2012-13.
- More than 6,000 students attended the School Celebration Day. They represented 75 schools from northwest Ohio and southeast Michigan. Three schools - Genoa Middle School, Pettisville Elementary, and Harry S. Truman H.S. - received $1,000 grant from the Walleye Wishing Well.
- This season the Walleye recognized nearly 6,000 kids from area youth hockey leagues during the pre-game ceremonies and intermission events.
The Walleye garnered national attention with its team specialty jerseys and raised $65,826 for local charities and Walleye Wishing Well.
- CBS EYE ON HOCKEY - "ECHL teams to wear Star Wars X-Wing, Darth Vadar uniforms ... without a doubt the most original and coolest sweaters you'll ever see."
- DEADSPIN.com when mentioning the Ugly Sweater - "Your eyes may hurt if you look directly at that piece of fabric."
- It was so ugly it made it into December 30 issue of Sports Illustrated.
Next season, the Toledo Walleye will host the first-ever ECHL outdoor hockey games at Fifth Third Field on December 27, 2014 and January 3, 2015.
