Knighthawks' Cody Jamieson Supporting Tucker Williams

April 17, 2014 - National Lacrosse League (NLL)
Rochester Knighthawks News Release

At the Rochester Knighthawks' regular season home finale against the Buffalo Bandits on Saturday, fans will once again have the opportunity to support Tucker Williams, the son of former Knighthawk Shawn Williams. Tucker was diagnosed with Stage III Burkitt's Lymphoma in January. At their game against the Bandits on February 8th, the Knighthawks sold "Braver than Brave" shirts to support the Williams family.

Now, Knighthawks forward Cody Jamieson is stepping up to the plate to help his longtime friend and former teammate on Saturday when the East Division rivals face off at The Blue Cross Arena. He will be playing with a custom "Braver than Brave" Under Armour=C2© Charge 2 stick against the Bandits and will be raffling it off at the game. All of the proceeds raised through the raffle will benefit the Williams family.

Jamieson is happy to give back to someone he has looked up to for a long time.

"I wanted to help out in any way that I could. Willy was my coach in 2007 for the Jr. A team here in Six Nations. He taught me a lot that year and helped us get a Minto Cup. He was also my captain during my rookie year with the Knighthawks. I look up to him as a role model and have a tremendous amount of respect for him, not only because of his lacrosse game, but how he is off the floor."

Knighthawks fans will be able to purchase one raffle ticket for $2 or three for $5. The drawing will take place in the fourth quarter and will be announced over the PA system and shown on the scoreboard. Jamieson will personally present the "Braver than Brave" game-used stick to the raffle winner on the turf during the postgame autograph session.

Jamieson's efforts add to the outpouring of support Tucker Williams and his family have received from the lacrosse community since his diagnosis. All around the National Lacrosse League players don "Braver than Brave" stickers on their helmets to show Tucker that they stand by him in his fight to gain his health back.

Jamieson is proud to be a part of such a tight knit community, "The support has been awesome. The friendships and bonds that we have as players is unexplainable. It is great to see the family-like atmosphere."
