Gudlevskis Named MeiGray Group ECHL Alumnus of the Month

PRINCETON, N.J. - Former Florida Everblades and current Tampa Bay Lightning goaltender Kristers Gudlevskis is The MeiGray Group ECHL Alumnus of the Month for April.

The leading distributor of game- worn hockey jerseys and "Official Game-Worn Jersey Source of the ECHL," MeiGray has sold more than 6,800 jerseys since it became "The Official Game-Worn Jersey Source of the ECHL" in 2002-03.

The 21-year-old made his NHL debut on April 11, stopping 36 shots in the Lightning's 3-2 win over Columbus, and in the process, becoming the first person to play in the ECHL, AHL, Olympics and NHL in the same season.

A fifth-round selection (124th overall) by the Lightning in the 2013 NHL Entry Draft, Gudlevksis made his pro debut this season with the Everblades, posting a 7-4-0 record in 11 games. At the time of his reassignment to Syracuse of the American Hockey League on Dec. 4, he was third in the ECHL with a 1.84 goals-against average and tied for the league lead with two shutouts.

Gudlevskis saw action in 34 games with Syracuse, going 18-11-4 with five shutouts, a 2.68 goals-against average and a save percentage of .901. During the 2014 Winter Olympics in Sochi, Russia, he appeared in two games for Latvia, including a 55-save performance in a 2-1 loss to Canada in the quarterfinals.

There have been 541 players who have played in the NHL after playing in the ECHL including 29 who made their debut in 2013-14. The ECHL has had 349 players reach the NHL since 2002-03 when it changed its focus to become the primary developmental league for the NHL and the AHL. The ECHL had 97 players reach the NHL in its first 10 seasons and 215 in the first 15 years. There have been 285 ECHL players who have played their first game in the last seven seasons for an average of more than 31 per year.
