Albuquerque Isotopes News Release
ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. - Right-handed pitcher Zach Lee and the Albuquerque Isotopes (7-6) shutdown the El Paso Chihuahuas' (6-7) offense en route to a 3-1 victory Wednesday night at Isotopes Park.
Lee turned in six innings of work, allowing no runs on three hits. The 22-year-old prospect also struck out three and walked only two. He improves to 3-0 on the season and lowered his ERA to a team-best 1.62.
Third baseman Jamie Romak provided the big hit of the evening with a two-out solo home run to right field in the bottom of the first. Clint Robinson, Miguel Olivo and Nick Buss followed with three-consecutive singles to tack on another run and put Albuquerque up 2-0 after one.
Two runs is all Lee would need as he subdued the Chihuahuas over the next five innings before giving way to Josh Judy in theseventh, who earned his first hold of the season after tossing two hitless innings.
The Isotopes added another run in the seventh when Trayvon Robinson drove in Alex Guerrero with a sacrifice fly. Gurerrero doubled to lead off the inning. Robinson also saved a run in the top of the eighth with a diving catch down the left field line. The 26-year-old outfielder finished the game 2-for-3 with an RBI.
El Paso scored its only run with a solo home run from Kyle Blanks in the top of the ninth before Sam Demel shut the door for his third save of the season.
Game three against El Paso is set for Thursday night at 6:35 p.m. Right-hander Henry Sosa (1-0, 3.86 ERA) is set to take the hill for the 'Topes and the Chihuahuas will counter with righty Matt Branham (0-0, 0.00 ERA).
