Montgomery Biscuits News Release

PENSACOLA, Fla. - The Biscuits (7-6) took advantage of eleven walks and a grand slam from Jeff Malm to shutout the Pensacola Blue Wahoos (7-6) 5-0 Wednesday night at Pensacola Bayfront Stadium.

Wahoo starter Robert Stephenson (1-1) - the number-one prospect in the Reds' system - set a career-high with seven walks including a bases loaded walk to Joey Rickard in the fourth inning that gave the Biscuits their first run of the game. Relievers Daniel Renken and James Walczack walked three and one respectively, bringing Pensacola's walk-total to eleven which was a team-record.

After two walks and an error in the fourth inning, Jeff Malm - who did not walk on the night - stepped to the plate with the bases loaded. Malm deposited a 1-2 pitch from Stephenson over the right field fence to give the Biscuits a 5-0 lead.

Jared Mortensen (2-0) went five scoreless-innings for the second-straight start to earn his second win on the year. The Canadian-righty stuck out four and worked around three walks.

Jake Thompson and Santiago Garrido combined to finish the final four innings and keep Pensacola scoreless.

The Biscuits will go for a series-win on Thursday night at 6:30. RH Michael Colla will head to the mound for the Biscuits while the Wahoos will have RH Jon Moscot on the hill.
