Gagnon, Pedan Added to Playoff Roster

Stockton, Calif. - The Stockton Thunder, proud ECHL affiliate of the NHL's New York Islanders and AHL's Bridgeport Sound Tigers, have added forward Mathieu Gagnon and defenseman Andrey Pedan to the team's 2014 Kelly Cup Playoffs roster, Head Coach and Director of Hockey Operations Rich Kromm announced Wednesday.
The pair were assigned to the Thunder on Tuesday and have both been placed on the playoff roster as reserves. With theses additions, the Thunder now have 22 players named to their postseason roster out of a maximum of 23.
Gagnon, 21, played in 43 games with the Thunder this season after starting the year in the ECHL on assignment from Bridgeport in the AHL. Gagnon had the second-most penalty minutes on the Thunder this season with 136, behind only team captain Garet Hunt. He finished the regular season tied for the third-most major penalties in the ECHL with 18. Gagnon scored his first professional goal on February 22, against the Colorado Eagles.
Pedan, 20, appeared in five games for Stockton in February. He played in four games on the road against the Alaska Aces and made one appearance at Stockton arena on February 15, against Utah. He spent most of the season in the AHL with Bridgeport where he tallied 10 points on 5 goals and 5 assists in 28 games.
The Stockton Thunder open up their defense of the Western Conference Championship title against the Ontario Reign in the 2014 Kelly Cup Playoffs. Game one of the series will be at Stockton Arena on Friday, April 18, at 7:30 p.m. The first 2,500 fans entering Stockton Arena will receive a Garet Hunt trading card.
