Colorado Mammoth News Release

DENVER - Fresh off Friday's 10-8 victory over the previously unbeaten Edmonton Rush, the Colorado Mammoth aims to clinch a postseason berth against the Minnesota Swarm this Sat., Apr. 19 at 6pm MT at Xcel Energy Center. For the Mammoth, Friday's triumph was more than just another win.

"That was absolutely the loudest I have ever heard [Pepsi Center]," said Colorado assistant captain Dan Coates. "It was definitely special. But for us, Edmonton was the next game on the schedule, and now we're looking forward to playing Minnesota."

Against the Swarm, a team the Mammoth beat 14-12 in February, Colorado will rely on Dillon Ward, its rookie goaltender, to continue his hot streak between the pipes. In the victory over the Rush, the 23-year-old had arguably the best game of his young career.

"Dillon was amazing!" said Colorado coach Dan Stroup. "He has a long future in this league. He's really stepped up and we're going to need that through the next few games and into the playoffs, hopefully."

The team's focus shifts to Minnesota this week. Although the Swarm has already been eliminated from playoff contention, don't expect Saturday's game to be a cake-walk.

"If you look at Minnesota's record, they just beat Buffalo and they have lost to a lot of teams by one goal or in overtime," said Stroup. "It is not going to be an easy game. They have a good, young and fast team, and we can't go in there thinking that this one is in the bag."

Now, the Mammoth controls its own destiny. One more win - or one loss by Vancouver - and Colorado's in the playoffs for a showdown against Calgary!

The game will air live on The Lacrosse Network on YouTube and will air on tape-delay on Altitude on Sun., Apr. 20 at 10pm MT.
