Wheeling's Condon Named CCM ECHL Rookie of the Month

PRINCETON, N.J. - Wheeling Nailers goaltender Mike Condon is the CCM ECHL Rookie of the Month for April. Condon, who also won the award in November, is the first player to win multiple Rookie of the Month awards since Elmira's Justin Donati in 2009-10.

The 23-year-old went 4-0-0 with three shutouts, a 0.25 goals-against average and a save percentage of .993 in four appearances during the month.

Condon opened the month with back-to-back shutouts - making 34 saves in a 4-0 win against Toledo on April 1 and stopping all 31 shots in a 3-0 victory against the Walleye on April 2. He then turned aside 24 shots in a 4-1 win against Evansville on April 4 before ending the season with a 45-save shutout in a 5-0 victory at Cincinnati on April 12.

Under an NHL contract with the Montreal Canadiens, Condon went 23-12-4 in 39 appearances with the Nailers this season. He led the ECHL with a .931 save percentage, was second with six shutouts and sixth with a 2.18 goals-against average. He also appeared in three games with Hamilton of the American Hockey League where he posted a 1-1-0 record.

Condon has appeared in 43 career ECHL games with Wheeling and Ontario posting an overall record of 26-13-4 with seven shutouts, a 2.11 goals-against average and a save percentage of .932.
