Dayton Dragons News Release

Dayton, Ohio-Dayton's Beau Amaral delivered a two-run single in the seventh inning to break a scoreless tie as the Dragons defeated the Clinton Lumber Kings 2-0 on Tuesday night. The win was the Dragons sixth in a row and improved their record to 8-3 on the year. They are in first place in the Midwest League's Eastern Division.

The Dragons rally began when Sean Buckley lined a double to left field to start the inning, sliding in safely at second base just ahead of the tag. Tanner Rahier's sacrifice moved Buckley to third with one out. After back-to-back walks to Joe Hudson and Jamodrick McGruder loaded the bases, Amaral looped a hit to center field to drive in Buckley and Hudson to give the Dragons a 2-0 lead.

Dragons reliever Alejandro Chacin (2-0) worked two perfect innings to earn the win. Scott Brattvet tossed a scoreless ninth inning for his second save. Brattvet issued a lead-off walk but struck out the next three to close out the game.

Dragons starting pitcher Sal Romano was outstanding but came away with no decision. He worked six scoreless innings, allowing seven hits and one walk with four strikeouts to lower his earned run average to 2.00 through three starts.

The Dragons finished with six hits. Amaral had a double and two singles to increase his batting average to .341.

The Dragons host Clinton on Wednesday at 7:00 p.m. (EDT) at Fifth Third Field in the finale of the three-game series.
