April 15, 2014 - ECHL (ECHL) - Evansville IceMen News Release
EVANSVILLE, Ind. - The Evansville IceMen finished the 2013-14 season with a dramatic overtime win with just six seconds remaining on the game clock, giving the organization its first winning season in the ECHL.
4/11 - Evansville went into Friday night's game against Ft. Wayne already eliminated from the playoffs, but hoping to spoil the Komets' bid for the post season. The IceMen, with the ECHL's best power play, went to work in the first period scoring two power play goals. Josh Beaulieu scored his 12th goal of the season, and the team's leading seventh power play goal, to start the scoring for the visitors. Alex Aleardi also scored to give the IceMen a 2 - 0 lead. Evansville ended up being outscored three goals to one in the third period and lose to their in-state rival.
4/12 - Saturday night, Evansville looked for a season sweep of the Kalamazoo Wings in the season finale. The IceMen were outshot 19 - 8 in the first period, but solid goaltending by Mike Clemente kept the IceMen in striking distance, down just 1- 0. Evansville battled back and force overtime with goals from Kellen Tochkin (11th) and Kevin Lynch (13th). Evansville outshot Kalamazoo 30 - 13 in the last two periods and 7 - 3 in overtime. Alex Aleardi scored the overtime power play goal with six seconds remaining, securing the first winning season in the franchise's two-year ECHL history. Mike Clemente got his 20th win of the season and Evansville finished the year with a 31 - 30 - 11 record.
