Valley Blue Sox News Release

HOLYOKE, Mass.-The Blue Sox have added a bolt to the outfield, signing Kentucky outfielder Storm Wilson for the 2014 season, assistant general manager Wesley LaValley announced today.

Wilson, a teammate of 2013 Blue Sox shortstop Matt Reida and incoming Blue Sox pitcher Zach Strecker, is currently batting .260 and has a .396 OBP on 13-of-50 with three walks, nine hit-by-pitch, and ten strikeouts; in the field, he has yet to commit an error this season.

"Storm's going to be a good player for us; he had a really good showing last year in the Prospect League. He'll be a good outfield fit," LaValley said, adding that "As he's increased his workload, he's shown he can really produce, and it's a deep Kentucky team he's playing on."

Last season in the Prospect League with the Slippery Rock Sliders, Wilson batted .288 with ten doubles and also stole 15 bases.

The 2014 season will represent the Blue Sox 7th season in the Pioneer Valley, playing at Mackenzie Stadium in Holyoke. The Blue Sox have been a member of the New England Collegiate Baseball League (NECBL; www.necbl.com) since 2008. The NECBL is funded in part by Major League Baseball and is comprised of 12 teams throughout all 6 New England States who recruit the elite athletes and premier pro prospects from around the world.
