Thunder Trade for Orlando's Rowley

April 14, 2014 - Arena Football League (AFL)
Portland Thunder News Release

PORTLAND, OR - The Portland Thunder picked up 2010 ArenaBowl champion quarterback Kyle Rowley from the Orlando Predators in return for top wide receiver Jeffrey Solomon.

"Our offense needs to help our defense out," said Head Coach Matthew Sauk. "Kyle and I have a lot of experience together; we won an ArenaBowl together and he knows what I'm looking for in an offense. It's tough to lose a guy like Jeffrey, but ultimately I think this will help get us in the win column and help us stay there."

Rowley (6-0, 195) is a four-year AFL veteran and has amassed 14,226 yards and 309 TDs since 2010. In 2010 in Spokane, under then-offensive coordinator Matthew Sauk, Rowley passed for a career-best 4,428 yards and had 100 TD passes against just 11 interceptions. He also earned ArenaBowl XXIII honors after setting an ArenaBowl record with nine touchdown passes.

The Thunder also re-activated MAC linebacker T.J. Fatinikun from league suspension as he returns from a workout for NFL teams.

The Portland Thunder return home on Friday, April 18 to take on the San Jose Sabercats. Season tickets are available for purchase starting as low as $77 by calling 503-773-4AFL or by visiting www.portlandthunder.com.For all the latest news and discussion on the Portland Thunder, follow the team on Facebook (facebook.com/PDXThunder), Twitter and Instagram (@PDXThunder).
