Alaska Aces News Release

ANCHORAGE, Alaska - The Alaska Aces, proud ECHL affiliate of the Calgary Flames of the National Hockey League, announced today that Calgary has reassigned goaltender Olivier Roy to the Aces from the Abbotsford Heat of the American Hockey League.

Abbotsford is the AHL affiliate of the Aces and Flames.

Roy, 22, joins Gerald Coleman on the Aces roster in time for the 2014 Kelly Cup Playoffs and last left the Aces on recall to Abbotsford on Jan. 27 when he was tied for fourth in the ECHL for goals-against-average (2.10), second in shutouts (4) and fifth in save percentage (.922). He was 13-7-0 in 20 games with the Aces this season and also earned the ECHL Goaltender of the Week award for Dec. 2-8.

The 6-foot, 179-pound goaltender also appeared in 12 games this season for Abbotsford and was 5-6-1 with a .902 save percentage.

Roy helped guide the Stockton Thunder to the Kelly Cup Finals last season and is 16-13 in 30 career playoff appearances. He was originally selected by the Edmonton Oilers in the fifth round (133rd overall) in the 2009 NHL Entry Draft.

Roy was assigned to the Aces on Nov. 9 after Calgary acquired him from Edmonton along with defenseman Ladislav Smid in exchange for goaltender Laurent Brossoit and forward Roman Horak.

Details on the Aces playoff roster will be announced soon.

Game 1 of the Western Conference Quarterfinals is Friday, Apr. 18 against the Las Vegas Wranglers at Sullivan Arena (7:15 p.m.). Season tickets and corporate sponsorship opportunities are on sale now.
