Recap of the Week

The Road Warriors went 0-3-1 this week against the South Carolina Stingrays, the Orlando Solar Bears, and the Florida Everblades.

Greenville fell to South Carolina 3-2 in a shootout on Tuesday, April 8th. The game was scoreless until the second period when South Carolina scored two goals within two minutes early in the period. Michael St. Croix cut the lead to 2-1 midway through the period and Andrew Yogan tied the game at 2-2 with two minutes left in the period. With a scoreless third period and overtime, the game entered into a shootout. Jeff Malcolm stopped three out of four shots and with the Road Warriors unable to score, the Stingrays won 3-2.

The Road Warriors began their road trip on Thursday in Orlando. Ryan Hegarty scored three minutes into the game to game to give the Road Warriors the lead. With six minutes left in the first period, Andrew Rowe scored to put the Road Warriors on top 2-1 heading into intermission. Orlando scored in the second and third period to take the lead and Greenville was defeated 3-2. Jeff Malcolm stopped 37 shots.

Saturday night, the Road Warriors were defeated 6-1 by Florida. Josh Nicholls scored a minute into the game to give the Road Warriors an early lead. Florida responded by scoring three goals to gain a 3-1 lead heading into the second period. Florida kept adding to their lead, scoring one goal in the second period and two goals in the third for a final score of 6-1. Jason Missiaen made 31 saves.

The Road Warriors faced Orlando again on Sunday in the last game of the regular season. After the Warriors fell behind 1-0, Andrew Rowe scored seven minutes into the game to tie the game at one. Orlando took the lead back, but Josh Nicholls scored with one minute left in the period to tie the game at 2-2 heading into the second period. Orlando gained control of the game in the second, scoring two goals early in the period to expand the lead to 4-2. An early third period goal enabled Orlando to extend their lead to 5-2. Marc-Olivier Vallerand scored three minutes into the period and Brad Cole scored midway through the period to cut Orlando's lead to 5-4. Unable to score for the remainder of the period, Greenville fell to the Solar Bears 5-4. Jeff Malcolm made 18 saves before being replaced by Jason Missiaen, who stopped 14 shots in relief.

The Week Ahead:

Greenville will travel to Kalamazoo this weekend for the first round of the Kelly Cup Playoffs. This is the fourth straight year the Road Warriors will be making a playoff appearance. The Road Warriors will play the Kalamazoo Wings on Friday and Saturday at 7:30 p.m. Greenville has a 6-6-0 all-time record against the Wings and is 0-2-0 this year. When playing Kalamazoo on the road the Road Warriors have collected a 4-2-0 record.

Streaks and Stats:

Andrew Rowe's 31 goals this season ties him with Brandon Wong for first on the Road Warriors all-time single season goal-scoring list.

For the fourth straight season, the Warriors boast at least four 20-goal scorers with Josh Nicholls, Jordie Johnston, Andrew Rowe, and Marc-Olivier Vallerand all reaching or exceeding the 20-goal mark.

Andrew Rowe's 66 points this season places him third on the team's all-time single season point scoring rankings.

Andrew Rowe's +28 rating this season tied him with Brendan Connolly for first on the Warriors all-time list.

Transactions:

The Road Warriors released goaltender Dustin Carlson on April 9th.

Jason Missiaen was assigned to Greenville from Hartford by the New York Rangers on April 10th.
