NEWS AND NOTES

HENRY FACES THE METS : The Sea Dogs took three of four from the New Britain Rock Cats to start the homestand, and open up a three-game set with the Binghamton Mets on Monday night...Tonight marks the first of 21 meetings between the two teams - last year Binghamton took 13 of 20...LHP Henry Owens, the top pitching prospect in the Red Sox system, makes his third start of the season, but his first at Hadlock Field...Owens is 2-0 and has not allowed a run in 12.2 IP on six hits and 18 strikeouts.

THEY GOT WON : New Britain avoided a four-game sweep of the Sea Dogs with a 6-3 win on Sunday afternoon...LHP Sean Gilmartin (1-1) worked six strong innings on four hits, two runs (one earned) and fanned three...SS Derik Gibson led Portland's offense, going 3-for-3 with a double and two runs scored...3B Nate Hanson and RF Daniel Ortiz each went 3-for-5 to lead New Britain's 12-hit attack...2B Mookie Betts and RF Shannon Wilkerson drove in runs for Portland.
