Eagles to Take on Steelheads in First Round of ECHL

WINDSOR, Colo. - The Colorado Eagles will meet the Idaho Steelheads in the Western Conference Quarterfinals of the 2014 ECHL Kelly Cup Playoffs. The series will kick-off on Friday, April 18th at CenturyLink Arena in Boise. Colorado secured the fifth seed in the conference standings after completing a 3-2 come-from-behind victory over the Alaska Aces on Saturday, coupled with the Las Vegas Wranglers 4-1 win over the Bakersfield Condors on Sunday. Idaho enters the playoffs as the fourth-seeded team in the Western Conference.
This will be the second straight post-season to see the Eagles and Steelheads clash in the opening round of the playoffs. The Steelheads advanced to the Western Conference semifinals after defeating the Eagles in six games in 2013. The winner of the best-of-seven series will advance to take on the winner of the quarterfinals series between the top-seeded Alaska Aces and the eighth-seeded Las Vegas Wranglers. On the other side of the Western Conference playoff bracket, the second-seeded Ontario Reign will meet the seventh-seeded Stockton Thunder, while the third-seeded Utah Grizzlies square off with the sixth-seeded Bakersfield Condors.
