Allen Americans News Release

Brampton, ON - The Allen Americans were unable to close out the series on Friday night in Ontario, suffering a 4-2 loss. Allen still leads the best of seven series 3-1 with Game 5 on Sunday afternoon in Brampton.

The Americans held off an early push by Brampton who came out flying, but the Americans defense, led by Bryan Pitton in the Americans net, weathered the storm. Allen was able to quell the frenzy when Anthony Maiani lit the lamp at 15:05 to notch his second goal of the post season, assisted by Greger Hanson to give the Americans the 1-0 lead. Maiani's goal was the lone marker in the frame and at the first intermission; Allen held the lead in shots at 15-13 and on the scoreboard 1-0.

Brampton was able to bring the game level in the opening seconds of the second period on a goal by Michael MacIsaac, assisted by Thomas Stajan just 35 seconds into the frame. The Beast got their first lead in the series since game two when Matt Caruana found the back of the net on the power play at 16:04, assisted by Steve Makway and Tylor Michel. Allen answered back a short time later to knot the score at 2-2 when Greger Hanson notched his 3rd goal of the playoffs at 18:25 with Bruce Graham and Jonathan Lessard earning the helpers. The score remained unchanged through the balance of the frame with Allen holding a slight edge in shots again at 16-15 and the two period total of 31-28.

Once again the Beast got the early jump on Allen and retook the lead on a goal by Tylor Michel at the 4:40 mark of the third period, with assists from Steve Ward and Andrew Fournier. Matt Caruana scored on the empty net, unassisted and shorthanded at 18:25 to cap the scoring and give the Beast the 4-2 victory. Brampton outshot the Americans 12-4 and took the three period total at 39-30.

Allen continues their series against Brampton on the road Sunday afternoon, the puck drop is scheduled for 4:05PM EST.
