El Paso Chihuahuas News Release

The El Paso Chihuahuas beat the Tacoma Rainiers 5-2 Thursday, sealing a series win at Cheney Stadium. The Chihuahuas scored twice in the second inning on an error by Tacoma right fielder Xavier Avery and an RBI single later in the inning by Travis Buck. Jeff Francoeur's RBI single and Brooks Conrad's sacrifice fly in the fourth made the score 4-0 in favor of the Chihuahuas.

Tacoma loaded the bases in the fourth before Conrad made a diving play at second base on a low hit line drive by Jesus Montero. The umpires issued warnings to both benches in the sixth after El Paso hitter Rico Noel and Tacoma reliever Brandon Maurer shouted at each other following an inning-ending strikeout.

Kyle Blanks went 1-for-4 with a double and now has a hit in all six games he's played in. El Paso starter Keyvius Sampson pitched four innings without allowing an earned run, and has now surrendered just one earned run in 8.1 innings this year.
