ON THE OFFENSIVE : Through the first 5 games of the season the Wings are hitting an IL-best .318. After collecting just 6 hits on Opening Day in Buffalo, the Red Wings have pounded out 13, 11, 12 and 15 hits, respectively, over their last 4 games. Over the last two days (3 games), the Wings are batting .404 (38-94) while scoring 18 runs in just 20 trips to the plate. The Wings haven't hit for much power yet, as they have just 9 XBH on the year (8 2B, HR) -- with 5 (all doubles) coming in Wednesday's win. Every Red Wing on the current roster (minus Nunez) has collected at least one RBI already.

-BALANCED ATTACK: In Tuesday's twinbill, 11 different Wings picked up a hit and 9 collected an RBI. In Wednesday's finale, 8 of 9 starters recorded at least one hit and six had multi-hit nights led by Chris Parmelee's three knocks.

WHO'S HOT: 2B James Beresford has hit in all 5 games to start the season (9-for-20; 2B, 4 R, 3 RBI)...Since July 1, 2013, he's hitting .331 (58-175) over 49 regular season games with Rochester...3B Deibinson Romero also has a 5-game hit streak to start the season (5-for-17; 2 RBI)...INF/OF Chris Parmelee is coming off his first 3-hit game of the season and is batting .333 (7-21; 2B, 3 RBI) on the year...RHP Yohan Pino earned his first win Wednesday in relief and has thrown 4.1 scoreless innings to begin 2014...INF Doug Bernier is 4-for-9 with the Wings' only home run and a team-leading 4 RBI in just 2 games.

2013 vs. LEHIGH VALLEY : The Wings finished 10-6 against the IronPigs in 2013 -- their best record against Lehigh Valley since going 11-5 against them in 2008. Over the previous four seasons, the Wings had been just 26-38 vs. the IronPigs. Lehigh Valley won 3 of the first 4 games and 2 of the last 3 game against the Red Wings last season, but in the middle Rochester won 8 of 9 including a 4-game sweep May 27-30 at Frontier Field. The Wings entered that series 20-30 on the season but used the sweep to springboard them to a 57-37 mark the rest of the way.

- The Red Wings had two pitchers take no-hitters deep into games against LHV in 2013. Kyle Gibson had a no-hitter broken up on a Steve Susdorf 2-out double in the 8th inning on May 19 and Liam Hendriks had his perfect game spoiled on a leadoff double by Freddy Galvis in the 7th inning on July 25.

FOR STARTERS:

The Wings will send LHP Logan Darnell to the mound in Thursday's lid-lifter to make his first appearance of the 2014 season. Darnell hasn't appeared in game action since the last day of spring training (March 30) when he tossed 4.0 innings. The Tennessee native was added to the Twins 40-man roster following the 2013 season after going a combined 10-10 with a 3.22 ERA in 27 combined games (26 GS) between New Britain and Rochester. The southpaw went 4-2, 2.50 ERA (11 ER/39.2 IP) over his last 7 starts with Rochester to finish the season.

- Darnell went 1-1, 2.31 ERA (11.2 IP/3 ER) over 2 starts against Lehigh Valley in 2013.

MASTRO MOVING UP : On Thursday, the Twins selected the contract of Wings CF and lead-off man Darin Mastroianni. Mastro was 9-for-20 (.450) with 2 doubles, 4 runs and 2 RBI in the first four games of the season. He also leaves with an International League best 14-game hitting streak at Triple-A dating back to last August. Over the streak, which began on Aug. 15 after being officially optioned to Rochester (had been 0-for-14 in 4 rehab games with the Wings), Mastroianni was batting .375 (21-for-56) with 5 RBI and a .478 OBP.

- RHP Virgil Vasquez was activated off the Wings DL on Thursday and transferred to New Britain.
