Today's Game

Tonight, the Bisons host the Pawtucket Red Sox in the first game of a four-game series at Coca-Cola Field (6:05 p.m.). Tonight's game begins an eight-game homestand as Scranton/Wilkes-Barre will come to town on Monday. The Herd is coming off a doubleheader split in Lehigh Valley on Wednesday that ended a 3-1 roadtrip.

Herd On Top

After the first week of the season, the Bisons stand alone atop the International League North Division. The Herd holds a one-game advantage over Rochester and Pawtucket. Buffalo had at least a share of first place until May 24 last season.

vs. the PawSox

The Bisons were 7-9 against the Red Sox last season. However, the Herd did have the 5-3 advantage in the eight games played at Coca-Cola Field. In the modern era (1985 on), Buffalo holds the 140-136 lead in this IL North division rivalry.

Happ Rehab

LHP J.A. HAPP joins the Bisons for the second start of his MLB injury rehab assignment. The southpaw was placed on the disabled list by the Blue Jays in spring training with lower back tightness. Happ made his first rehab start with Single-A Dunedin, allowing two runs in five innings to beat Clearwater on April 5 (3 H, BB, 5 SO).

Call to Arms

Through the first week of the season, the Bisons team ERA of 2.25 is the best in the International League. Herd hurlers have allowed just 35 hits in 48.0 innings of work to help the team to a 4-1 start. The Bisons bullpen, which threw seven shutout innings in yesterday's game one victory, has posted a 1.16 ERA so far in 2014 (23.1 IP, 3 ER).

Juan Francisco

INF JUAN FRANCISCO has hit in all four games he's played in for the Bisons. Signed by the Blue Jays a day before the season, Francisco leads the International League with his .529 batting average and .579 on-base percentage. He has produced multi-hit efforts in three of his four games in a Buffalo uniform.

Bisons Bits

INF DAN JOHNSON has reached base 12 times in five games with five hits and seven walks...RHP MARCUS STROMAN was credited with his first career complete game in last night's game two loss (6.0 IP, 3 H, 0ER, 8 SO).

Blue Jays Update

The Blue Jays (5-4) are over the .500-mark after a 7-3 win over Houston on Wednesday. RHP Brandon Morrow struck out nine and Brett Lawrie homered and drove in two. Toronto looks for the sweep of the Astros tonight at 7:07 p.m.
